Niseko Village: ski-in hotels and the steepest pitches in bounds

A resort village of big hotels on the south side of the mountain, linked to Hirafu and Annupuri over the top.

Niseko Village sits between Grand Hirafu and Annupuri on Mt Niseko-Annupuri. It is run by YTL Hotels, with the Hilton, The Green Leaf, Hinode Hills and Higashiyama Ritz-Carlton Reserve around the base. You sleep, eat and ski from one compound.

It is not the gentle backwater its reputation suggests. Niseko Village has some of the steepest in-bounds fall lines in Niseko United, alongside long, easy greens for lessons. What it lacks is a town: dinner variety means a shuttle or taxi to Hirafu.

Personally I'd suggest Niseko Village if you want a ski-in hotel and steep runs on the doorstep. Buy the All-Mountain pass if you'll cross to Hirafu even once.

Terrain and who it suits

The steep stuff is real. Superstition reaches 35°, and Misoshiru averages 25° over 850 m, the steepest average of any course on Niseko United's lists. Mizuno-no-Sawa is a specially controlled area the resort runs for its steepest powder, and First Tracks cat skiing goes out before the lifts open.

Beginners are well served too. Shakey Knees and Final Fling average 4° over 650 m each, Banzai and Cruiser average 7° over 900 m or more, and Dabesa runs 1,880 m at 8°. The resort says its runs reach up to 5 km.

Group lessons run 12 Dec 2026 – 31 Mar 2027 and privates through the whole season (28 Nov – 4 Apr), at the Niseko Village Snow School.

Getting there and between areas

Niseko United gives about 97 km from Sapporo by car via Route 230, the Nakayama Pass and Kimobetsu. The airport ski bus stops at Hilton Niseko Village (last season's timetable; Niseko United says the 2026–27 one comes out around October).

On snow, Niseko Village says the Niseko Gondola gives easy access into Grand Hirafu, and Annupuri is reached from the top of the Wonderland Chair. The NISEKO UNITED shuttle bus links all four bases.

After dark, the hotels are the village. Hirafu is a shuttle or taxi ride away, so plan the ride home when you book dinner.

Which lift pass for Niseko Village

Niseko Village sells its own pass: ¥10,700 for an adult day in peak, ¥10,200 regular and ¥7,200 off season. Annupuri lists a joint Annupuri + Niseko Village ticket, but marks that section as being prepared for this season.

If you will cross to Hirafu even once, the All-Mountain pass at ¥13,500 a peak day is ¥2,800 more and also covers the shuttle.

When to go

  • Group lessons start on 12 Dec, so a family trip that needs ski school should land after that.
  • Peak (24 Dec – 28 Feb) is the main season. The new Mori-no Gondola's first stage is due to open for 2026–27.
  • Niseko Village closes on 4 April 2027, the earliest of the four. Spring trips after that belong at Hirafu or Annupuri.
