Hanazono: Hirafu's quieter neighbour, with the latest night session
Resorts · 花園 · Checked for 2026–27, 11 Oct 2026
The eastern end of Niseko United. Same ticket as Hirafu, a calmer base, and the lifts run latest.
Niseko Hanazono Resort sits at the eastern end of Niseko United, right beside Grand Hirafu. It shares a ticket with Hirafu, so a lot of people treat it as Hirafu's quieter wing: ride over in the morning, eat at the base, ride back.
The base is built around the Hanazono 308 centre and the Park Hyatt Niseko Hanazono, with a strong lean towards families: indoor kids' play, tubing and terrain parks are all run by the resort.
Personally I'd suggest Hanazono for families and for the evening session: ski it on the Hirafu + Hanazono pass and stay on until the lifts stop at 8 pm.

Terrain and who it suits
Niseko United lists 12 main courses at Hanazono. The headline for beginners is Silver Dream, 2,700 m long at an average of 8°, and Mango Salad, Juicy Fruit and Crystal Garden are all gentle cruisers averaging 7°.
The steeper end is moderate rather than scary: Legend of Shinya tops out at 30°, Youtei Sunset at 29° over 1,238 m, and Stairway to Heaven at 26° over 1,200 m. Hanazono also runs terrain parks, a lift-assisted backcountry tour and cat tours on neighbouring Niseko Weiss.
Backcountry gates follow the same Niseko Rules as the rest of the mountain: gates only, helmet and beacon, and nothing when the gate is shut.
- Families: indoor kids' play, tubing and long gentle greens
- Park riders
- Hirafu guests who want a calmer base for the day
- Night skiers who want the longest session (to 8 pm)

Getting there and between areas
Hanazono is the next resort east of Grand Hirafu, on Route 343 just off Route 5 from Kutchan. Niseko United's driving directions from Sapporo go via the Nakayama Pass, Kimobetsu, Route 276 and Route 5.
The NISEKO UNITED shuttle bus connects Hanazono with Hirafu, Niseko Village and Annupuri. The Hirafu + Hanazono ticket does not cover the shuttle, so you pay the fare unless you hold an All-Mountain pass.
Which lift pass for Hanazono
There is no Hanazono-only day ticket. The Hirafu + Hanazono pass is ¥12,500 for an adult day in peak, ¥11,600 regular and ¥7,800 early and spring, a little less if you buy online. The night-skiing pass is ¥6,900 in peak (¥6,200 online).
HANAZONO describes the joint ticket as covering about 60% of Niseko United's skiing. If you want Niseko Village or Annupuri too, it is the All-Mountain pass.
When to go
- Night skiing runs 12 Dec – 22 Mar from 4 pm to 8 pm, the latest finish of the four resorts.
- Peak (24 Dec – 28 Feb) is busiest. The base is quieter than Hirafu's, but lift lines still build on powder mornings.
- Hanazono closes on 11 April 2027, about three weeks before Hirafu and Annupuri. For a late-April trip, plan on those two.
Stay
Where to stay near Hanazono
HANAZONO's own list of stays at the base is short: Park Hyatt Niseko Hanazono and its residences, plus Setsu Niseko, Zaborin, Freedom Inn and Trifito Hotel nearby. A lot of people who ski Hanazono sleep in Hirafu instead.
